Accomplishments for Fiscal Year Ending 12/31/2006
- Since October 2006, oral historians from Columbia University have conducted over 70 filmed interviews for our National 9/11 Civic Education program with victims' families, survivors, rescue workers, eyewitnesses and elected officials. In June 2007, WTC United interviewed Senator Hillary Clinton and Reps. Pete King, Carolyn Maloney and Christopher Shays for the program.
- Over 371 individuals participated in our 9-11/Oklahoma City exchange programs, held in Oklahoma City in April and New York in September. Feedback gathered from program participants continues to support a demand for the exchange and a consensus that the program is "empowering, promotes healing and combats feelings of grief isolation."
- Our representatives continue to successfully participate in the WTC federal preservation reviews (Section 106 processes) in collaboration with the Coalition of 9/11 Families. Most notably, in partnership with historic preservation groups, we convinced WTC redevelopment officials the remains of the twin tower footprints were tangible historic artifacts, which contribute to the site's historic significance; The remains of the tower footprints at bedrock will be incorporated into the fabric of the onsite museum dedicated to telling the story of 9/11.
Objectives for Fiscal Year Beginning 01/01/2007
- Advance our 9/11 civic education program with Taft Institute for Government at Queens College;
- Continue to implement the organization's sustainability action plan; Continue expansion of our Board; Build a strong endowment fund to ensure long term viability of our organization;
- Continue to unite those changed forever on Sept. 11 through our annual slate of peer support programs including our annual 9/11/Oklahoma City Exchange.

Balance
Sheet: Fiscal Year Ending December 31, 2007
Notes
The
balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization
at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should
generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot long survive,
but the types of assets and liabilities also must be considered.
For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables,
securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities
(payables, deferred revenue, current year loan and note payments).
Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other
hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed
its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
