MEANS FOR DREAMS

Mission and Programs
Mission
School budget cuts too often force teachers to do without - or pay for themselves - materials and activities that enrich the learning and experience of their students. Art and science supplies, books, field trips, video and audio tools for LES or for learning a foreign language, musical instruments and many other resources add significant value to teaching and learning and provide students the opportunity to experience the world beyond their neighborhood.
Programs
The www.MeansForDreams.org website is a location where teachers can post brief proposals (screened by MeansForDreams)for resources not funded by school budgets that can enrich learning for their students. Individuals (and organizations) who want to support education in a direct and personal way may log onto the site, review and choose to fund a proposal with a contribution to MeansForDreams. MFD orders materials or arranges activities online for delivery direct to the teacher at the school. MeansForDreams forwards tax information, receipts for purchases and class photographs and thank you notes to the donor [MFD sends camera to teachers and has film developed]

Balance
Sheet: Fiscal Year Ending December 31, 2007
Notes
The
balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization
at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should
generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot long survive,
but the types of assets and liabilities also must be considered.
For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables,
securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities
(payables, deferred revenue, current year loan and note payments).
Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other
hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed
its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
