Mission and Programs

Mission
In determining which programs to undertake or fund, our focus is on the size of the impact on its beneficiaries and the efficiency with which we can deliver it. Our priorities are:
* help those who are in the greatest need, especially those who have found themselves in unfortunate circumstances through no fault of their own.
* create/fund programs that help people help themselves
* supply programs that provide a benefit to the general public
* provide educational materials and resources to foster public understanding on the nature of Islam and to promote better relations of those of various faiths.

Programs
Started in August 2002, our ClassZoom project provides school supplies for low-income children in the U.S. The program empowers teachers to identify needy students and provides the supplies (or the funds needed to purchase the supplies) to the teacher or school administrator. While it is not a reimbursement program, it seeks to provide additional funds to help those most in need. Recent reports show that 77% of school supplies are paid for by teachers out of their own pockets, but even with this level of devotion, teachers cannot meet the need.

Balance Sheet: Fiscal Year Ending December 31, 2003

Notes
The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot long survive, but the types of assets and liabilities also must be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
