Mission and Programs
Mission
Turning Point''s mission is to provide programs and resources that enable vicitm/survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault to regain control of their lives.
Programs
· 24-Crisis Line: Our crisis hotline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. The crisis line provides options, support and resources to callers, including those who are non-English speaking or hearing impaired. Our 24-hour in person advocacy and crisis intervention services are also available for sexual assault victims and their significant others. On average the crisis line handles 1,000 calls per month.
· Emergency shelter: Turning Point’s emergency shelter provides a safe environment for survivors of domestic violence and their family so they can begin to assess options and obtain access to resources that will allow them to regain control of their lives. Survivors/victims of domestic violence use our residential service as a resource of last resort, when safety and confidentiality are paramount. On average 500 women and children are sheltered each year.
· Turning Point also provided our annual daily summer camp for children in shelter. Over 35 children were able to participate in the program that focuses on recreation and fun outdoor activities. Summer is a very difficult time at shelter, because children are not in school and there is minimal outdoor space for them to play at the shelter. This program and all of our services to children receive positive feedback from the parents and the children themselves.

Balance
Sheet: Fiscal Year Ending September 30, 2008
Notes
The
balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization
at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should
generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot long survive,
but the types of assets and liabilities also must be considered.
For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables,
securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities
(payables, deferred revenue, current year loan and note payments).
Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other
hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed
its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
