The mission of the Creative Kids Education Foundation is to support innovative programs in classical music education for children.

  1. Obtain remainder of funding for KUSC-Creative Kids Central Classical Music Website for Children.
  2. Obtain funding for continuing updates of Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra children's music education web pages
  3. Raise funds for an endowment to support a "Girl's Leadership project in creative writing" in the name of Christina Adam
Self Assessment

Each funded project has a built-in evaluation strategy that incorporates the use of internal and external evaluators. Projects are assessed formatively and summatively.

Chief Executive Profile

Jama Laurent, Ph.D., is the founding President of the Creative Kids Education Foundation. In addition to her work with the Foundation, Dr. Laurent is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of California and maintains a private practice. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Southern California and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in l977. Dr. Laurent has consulted widely on issues related to children's advocacy, written a column for teens in Senior Scholastic, and has had her own radio broadcast. She has consulted with NBC and ABC television networks on their standards and practices with regard to television viewing material appropriate for children. Dr. Laurent has been the founding President of the Creative Kids Education Foundation since l996 and has shaped the mission and focus of the Foundation as well as supervised all funding activities since its inception.
