Mission and Programs
Mission
Food for Life is a unique project for bringing peace and prosperity to the needy of the world through the liberal distribution of sanctified vegetarian/vegan meals.
Our Aims and Objectives are as follows:
Welfare: To eradicate hunger and malnutrition by providing free vegetarian meals to the disadvantaged, and victims of disaster (natural or man made), wherever there is a need in the world.
Health: To establish Food for Life Health Education centers throughout the world. These centers will provide free or inexpensive vegetarian meals, counseling, health education, and living skills training to those in need.
Youth Development: To establish Rural Academies for Youth, whereby people from the ages of 16-25 are trained in yoga, animal protection, sustainable agriculture, and food preparation centered around spiritual values.
Hospitality: To revive India''s ancient Vedic culture of hospitality, and to teach people by example, that there is spiritual equality among all beings.
Programs
Food for Life operates in more than 50 countries around the world. The largest operation is located in Bangalore, India. Food for Life's Midday Meal program offers free meals everyday to poverty stricken school children throughout India. Food for Life is currently serving over 1,000,000 hygienic and nutritious meals every day through an extremely cost-effective program. Food for Life also has many other successful projects in Australia, Eastern Europe, South America and North America. Since 1974, more than 500 millions meals have been served by Food for Life. The charity has expanded its services to include, sustainable farming projects, orphanages, cow protection services, medical care, and schooling for underprivileged children.

Accomplishments for Fiscal Year Ending 12/31/2007
- Continued to support Food for Life affiliate project around the world through training, education and small grants.
- Maintained and increased Food for Life Global's education and awareness service through mail and the Internet. Gave presentation on world hunger and FFL's projects at numerous vegetarian and green conferences.
- Increased distribution of meals to over 1 million per day
Objectives for Fiscal Year Beginning 01/01/2008
- Develop the following projects: Eco-Kitchen in Mississippi to expand food distribution; Emergency/Catering truck fleet for the US; Increase the distribution of products and education from our web site.
- Raise $10 million dollars for grant giving to our affiliate projects world wide.
- Volunteer Vacation service to facilitate more hands-on opportunities for our volunteers.
Self Assessment
Food for Life tracks its effectiveness in the following ways: (1) an annual evaluation of its feeding programs (2) the number of new members (3) growth in Web site usage (4) feedback from web site visitors, donors, members.
