Mission and Programs

Mission

Our Organization provides youth and their families with arts, prevention, and social services (including behavioral) programs in an effort to supplement mainstream education. Our goal is to provide creative, social, and economic opportunities in real-life situations for youth and families.

Programs

Our main programs are Media Arts, Creative & Performing Arts, All-Stars (prevention), and Project K.A.R.E. These programs are all designed to empower youth by taping into their innate abilities and gifts. The Media Arts programs feature KARE Radio, a program that provides kids with a history of radio broadcast while allowing them to develop skills as on-air personalities, production specialists, progammers, technicians, and even marketing assistance. The kids learn to operate and manage their own local radio stations while linking to a complete webcast network to reach teens around the world. This program also features a call-in/email talkshow that addresses issues that affect teens. A KARE TV program is currently in its planning stages. The All Stars program is a prevention progam designed by Tanglewood Research that allows kids to identify harmful choices and behavior that might hinder their future success. This program is different from many others because it puts the power of 'thinking' and 'planning' in the hands of the youth involved. Project K.A.R.E. is a community service aspect of our programs menu. It promotes social awareness by giving youth and their communities an avenue to help others. Whether by providing KARE packages to needy families or elderly or raising funds to assist victims of natural disaster, violence, or health, this program encourages youth and the communities in which they live to get involved and make a difference in the world.

Self Assessment

Our programs effectiveness is measured in a number of ways. All participants are required to get a written referral from an education or youth service profession. They are assessed upon entering the program, grades submitted, behavior history, etc. Their progress in both academics and behavior are monitored regularly as a condition of participation. Areas of weakness are identified and addressed through tutoring or peer/one-on-one counselling. Their reports are graphed during the year and saved for our records and theirs.
