Mission

Lutheran Disaster Reponse seeks to demonstrate Christ's compassion for people by promoting hope, healing, and wholeness for disaster survivors.

Programs

Lutheran Disaster Response operates through a network of 38 Lutheran social ministry organizations, who carry out our work through hardship grants, spiritual and emotional care, volunteer coordination, and long-term recovery.

Results

Accomplishments for Fiscal Year Ending 12/31/2007

  1. Lutheran Disaster Response continued its work along the hurricane-ravaged Gulf Coast, helping to coordinate over 36,000 volunteers in rebuilding over 10,000 homes
  2. Lutheran Disaster Response played a vital role in the development of long-term recovery committees in Rushford, MN; Findlay, OH; Gays Mills, WI; Greensburg, KS; and along the Gulf Coast.
  3. Lutheran Disaster Response served as one of nine national consortium members in Katrina Aid Today. Through this program, Lutheran Disaster Response affiliates gained access to over $21 million in services for over 11,000 needy households.
Objectives for Fiscal Year Beginning 01/01/2008
  1. Lutheran Disaster Response, in partnership with other faith-based and secular disaster responders as well as government agencies, will partner with local leadership in organizing for the long-term recovery of the Gulf Coast.
