Accomplishments for Fiscal Year Ending 12/31/2006
- Economic Justice and Immigrants Rights: AFSC's Economic Justice programs advocate for good public benefits and services, and help communities organize for social change. AFSC?s work with immigrant communities reflects our commitment to support the rights and dignity of all people, regardless of legal status. This issue section includes resources and perspectives on the movement for immigrants? rights inside the United States.
- Life Over Debt, a national campaign of the AFSC, highlights the need for immediate cancellation of Africa's debt. In partnership with the Jubilee USA Network, we add our voice to the millions around the globe who call: Drop the debt!
- AFSC's Wage Peace Campaign is building a diverse and vocal constituency to end the war in Iraq. Please watch the Wage Peace movie on the AFSC website www.afsc.org, sign the Iraq Peace Petition, visit the Eyes Wide Open exhibition, get a bracelet, and join our email newsletter for action alerts. The Eyes wide open exhibit: This powerful exhibit is traveling throughout the United States, lining up combat boots to symbolize our young man and women who died in Iraq as well as a symbolic pile of shoes to show the civilians killed by this war. Many people have seen the exhibit and have been deeply touched by it. There is no way to peace. Peace is the way. AFSC continues its work in the Middle East region ? which stretches back to World War II ? by promoting a just and lasting peace for Palestinians and Israelis.
Objectives for Fiscal Year Beginning 01/01/2007
- The AFSC community works to transform conditions and relationships both in the world and in ourselves which threaten to overwhelm what is precious in human beings.
- Work for peace. Help end the war in Iraq and end hostilities in the Middle East region. Help civilians in Iraq establish a peaceful society.
- We hope to highlight that "no human being is illegal". Immigration has become increasingly criminalized in the United States and immigrants are frequently targeted as scapegoats for the economic insecurity of the global economy. Moreover, evidence from the North American Free Trade Agreement has demonstrated that trade agreements of the same model cause an increase in migration and economic insecurity for the working class, while perpetuating an inequality between capital and labor mobility.
Chief Executive Profile
Has over twenty years of progressive responsibility in non-profit management, including positions with YWCA of Camden, New Jersey and Vicinity. Additional Comments
