Mission and Programs

Mission

Microchips. Recovery. Giving Back.
AKC CAR is the nation''s largest not-for-profit pet recovery service.  We have a 24/7/365 call center with over 4 million pets enrolled and have helped reunite over 360,000 pets with their families. AKC CAR sells the ID System microchips and scanners to veterinarians, shelters, animal control and others to permanently identify pets. AKC CAR gives back through veterinary student scholarships (over $800,000 donated since 2002); pet disaster relief; search and rescue support; and low cost microchipping clinics.

Programs

Our database stores over 3 million enrollment records and has been used to perform nearly 300,000 recoveries. We process enrollments and perform recoveries. We recover a pet every 7 minutes, around the clock.

Balance Sheet: Fiscal Year Ending December 31, 2007

Notes
The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot long survive, but the types of assets and liabilities also must be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
