Mission and Programs
Mission
To provide, promote and advance the humane protection, care, and treatment of animals by any and all means; to foster kindness to animals and to promote their welfare in every manner possible by humane education and otherwise; to purchase, print, publish and circulate literature to promote kindness to animals and the work of the Corporation; to establish and provide by purchase or otherwise, and to maintain one or more shelters for animals, and other buildings, grounds, and equipment related to the shelter(s); and to operate the same and to perform all acts it may deem appropriate or advisable in such operation; to establish, provide, maintain, and operate one or more clinics and subsidize spaying/neutering programs for animals; and to engage itself in such programs; and, in general to do any and all proper acts to carry out the humane purposes of the Corporation.
Programs
NSAL America's adoption program saves the lives of approximately 20,000 pets each year. We find homes for our orphans in the tri-state area. To provide our animals with a good start, we offer free medical care for 15 days, free training, and free spay/neuter.

Results
Accomplishments for Fiscal Year Ending 12/31/2007
- The League's adoption center, veterinary hospital, emergency medical service, training center and other facilities were open 365 days and found homes for 20,608 animals last year. The Medical Center performed 10,568 vaccinations, 10,019 spay/neuter procedures, and 805 special surgeries.
- Every day, the League rescued animals which would ordinarily be destroyed from local animal control facilities and shelters. The League rescued 10,466 animals during the year.
- Tri-state area residents who couldn't come to the League were able to stay near home and still adopt a pet, thanks to our 35 ft Mobile Adoption Units.
Objectives for Fiscal Year Beginning 01/01/2008
- To find new homes for more than 20,000 animals this year.
Additional Comments
NSAL America is THE only national humane organization in the country with actual hands-on rescue and adoption programs of this magnitude.
